Several pulp industries have in recent years cut back production because of lack of water

The Swedish pulp and paper industry is successful and has many proud records to boast about in terms of production and efficiency. Less well known is that it also holds the record of consuming most water in Sweden with the steel industry as a strong runner-up. But water is cheap and plentiful – so why are we concerned about this? Yes, this has long been a truth, but it is not so any longer. The fact is that several sites have already experienced production constraints due to reduced access to water.
